Maybe they planned Mary-Ruth to go off on auditions and oddball acting jobs like That Girl? But that series soon became a bit monotonous as you always knew Ann Marie would be out of a job by each episode's end and the supposed big acting break would quickly fizzle. Yetta and Sylvia can drop in as clients which would be fun but they aren't really connected to the characters so would just be casually drifting in and out of the occasional scene, not key to any stories or conflicts. To me Mr Anthony looks good but the character seems dim which limits the character and potential stories. Don't know how many episodes they could do about Kim upset they lost the rec room. Kim seems annoyed about the rec room but that's it. Mary-Ruth doesn't seem to be a rival of Kim's. But he isn't crying out for an ally as he is already apparently happy in his role there and totally accepted. The Chatterbox just throws up reversal versions of The Nanny characters, but with the reversals the relationships just do not work the same way. The audience sees the characters and deduces the relationships that might unfold, we aren't told what the relationships will be. Mr Sheffield notices that Fran is obviously very attractive. The Nanny opened with the naughty Brighton who hated his nannies trying to scare this latest one away, and she is oblivious to this. Instead of an actual believable premise that is relatable and could generate a range of stories, it is like they took the key ideas of The Nanny like the potential opposites attract romance and the fish out of water element, and flipped them around.
